Applying for an Aadhaar card is made very easy by the UIA. Some of the steps can be done online, saving you the time and effort of visiting the centre numerous times, waiting in the queue, etc. Although the card cannot be made through the online process, the reason being that an individual when applying for an Aadhaar card has to visit the centre physically and register his biometrics i.e. fingerprints and eye scan and also get a passport sized photograph clicked.

Given below are few easy to understand simple steps to download Aadhaar card:

Step 1: go to the UIDAI website using the URL

Step 2: make sure that your Aadhaar Number is selected from the two options on the top of the screen.

Step 3: type in your full name, e-mail address, registered mobile number and finally enter said security code and click on the “Get OTP” button.

Step 4: after you receive your OTP on either your mobile number or email address, click on the “Verify OTP” option.

Step 5: Once the previous step is completed, then you will get your Aadhaar Card number and can enter it on the URL:

Step 6: Enter the Aadhaar card number or Enrollment Id, full name, Pin Code, security text and mobile number.

Step 7: Get the “OTP” and click on the “Validate and Download” option

Step 8: On completion of this step, you have now downloaded your e-Aadhaar card. The document that you will receive will be password protected and can be unlocked using your pin code.

Step 9: This PDF document can be now printed and will serve as your duplicate Aadhaar card.

Process to Download Aadhaar Card by Name

The UIA has also provided a facility where an applicant can download their Aadhaar card just by putting in the name. You can do this by logging on to

This link will direct you to a page wherein you have to fill your Name, E-mail Address, Mobile Number and a Captcha Code (Image). You will then receive a one-time-password on your phone. Once you put this code, your phone number is verified, and you will receive a link to download your Aadhaar card.
