The developed countries like America and UK have the complete details and count of their citizens. The American agencies and government institutions can check the finger prints of any resident, can immediately get the photographs on the basis of their name and location and also the complete demographic details of every citizen are conserved with them.

So to have the exact count and complete details of each resident of India and to have the accurate surveys like Population Census and GDP etc, Indian government has introduced a new identity to the Indian residents known as Aadhar Card. And this card is absolutely free for every citizens of India, so that the common people can also have this identity proof.

What is Aadhar?

The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) issues Aadhaar Card to the citizens of India, even to the migrants on behalf of Indian Government. Aadhar number is neither based on location nor on caste or religion while it is an auto-generated 12 digits unique identification number which is exclusive for an individual.

An individual can avail only one Aadhar number throughout life which can be used as identity and address proof in all over India. The UIDAI take finger print, photograph, retina scan and address proof of the customer to issue the Aadhaar number and kept it in record.

These days we have to link our Aadhar number to the gas agencies to get the subsidies on gas cylinders. Aadhar is the best document for KYC (Know Your Customer) checks. Also it gives provides government, an authentic record of the population.

Indian government is on the urge to make it compulsory for each and every residents of India. However it is not compulsory yet to register for Aadhar but the financial institutions like bank, government agencies prefer to have the Aadhar number in records of their customers.

The UIDAI appoint volunteers at Aadhar centres to collect the required documents like address proof, photograph, finger prints, retina scan and issues Aadhar Card free to the residents of India. Any individual who is a resident of India can get the Aadhar, and there are no restrictions co-related to Age, Gender, Caste, geographical location and religion.

What are the charges for Aadhar Card?

Aadhar Card is absolutely free from the government of India, neither there is any charge for the application form nor enrolment charges at UIDAI centers for registration.
People may think that they have to pay for getting the photograph clicked, finger prints taken and retina scan at the center, but all the process of applying for card card are free of cost.

The Father’s name over the card was listed as Pawan Ji. We all wondered how the fake Aadhar Card can be made in India. Police use the mobile number given on the enrolment application form to reach to the person behind this fake identity.

He refused to accept the Aadhar Card delivered to his residence address via post and it was sent back to the officials.

In June’ 2014, police swiped 4 people in Akbarpur Kanpur in a raid for making the  fake Aadhar Card. In March’ 2014, many Aadhar Card project officers off-guard caught on hidden came in a Cobra-post sting operation.
